That's a good book. The material is not necessarily introductory level, but the book is written in an introductory style.

very good description. But i don't think owen's book is a solo. NPMLE is still a hot topic in the field.
The book "functional nonparametric estimation" by prakasa rao is worth to read, though it seems a little bit "outdated"/
