Job Description:
With the long-term efforts on data standardization and integration in healthcare systems, especially recent development in wearable devices and gene sequencing, nowadays large amounts of clinical data, behavior data and genomic data become available electronically, which triggers a huge demand for gaining insights from heterogeneous data using big data analytics and cognitive computing technologies.
In Cognitive Healthcare Department of IBM Research – China (CRL), we are working on cognitive technologies, including big data analytics, machine learning, data mining and their applications to achieve evidence-based, personalized care, which leads to better care quality and lower medical cost. Our technologies have been applied to many applications/solutions to solve real-world problems in healthcare, such as health risk prediction for chronic disease prevention, patient similarity and clustering for personalized treatment or care pathway analysis and mining for evidence-based care, through decision support tools to doctors and patients.

Job Responsibility:
As a Research Scientist at IBM CRL in Cognitive Healthcare Department, your job will be
To conduct research on developing big data analytics and cognitive computing methods for healthcare data, building data mining, machine learning and statistical analysis models on real world clinical/behavior/genomic data, as well as evaluating model performance and applicability for clinical practice.
We are looking for candidates with at least Master Degree (Ph.D. is preferred) in Medical Informatics, Information Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related areas, with the following qualifications to strengthen our team:

我们寻找具有医学信息学、信息科学、计算机科学、统计学、应用数学或相关领域具有研究生学位（博士学位优先）的候选人，并具有以下能力：
Requirements:
- Strong in machine learning, data mining and statistics.
- Strong in software development, proficiency in at least one advanced programming language, such as Python and Java.
- Familiar with data analysis tools and libraries, such as SPSS, R and/or scikit-learn, etc.
- Knowledge of clinical/genomic/behavior data is a plus.
- Familiar with big data platforms and tools, such as HDFS, Hadoop, Mahout and Spark is a plus.
- Familiar with NoSQL storage is a plus.
- Creative, independent and Self-motivated.
- Team-work and good Chinese/English communication skill.
- 很强的机器学习、数据挖掘和统计背景。
- 很强的软件开发能力，熟练掌握至少一种高级编程语言，如Python和Java。
- 熟悉数据分析工具和库，如SPSS，R和或scikit-learn等。
