How do I best export SAS graphs into Microsoft Office products?
This section details how to export a SAS graph to a CGM file, the best file format for graphics going into Microsoft Word or Powerpoint.
CGM files can only be exported from code using one of the CGM device drivers. Use a FILENAME statement and a GOPTIONS statement in your SAS code to write the graph directly to a CGM file:
<br />
filename output "path\thenameofmygraph.cgm";<br />
<br />
goptions device=cgmdevice GSFNAME=output GSFMODE=replace;<br />
<br />
proc gplot;<br />
<br />
programming statements...<br />
<br />
run;<br />
where cgmdevice is:
CGMOFML for Microsoft Office with Metric Scaling, landscape
CGMOFMP for Microsoft Office with Metric Scaling, portrait
Other graphics formats are also available as explained below.
To bring this file into Microsoft Office, from an Office document, choose Insert > Picture > From File and select the file you just created. You must install the CGM import filter in Office before you can import the image. See detailed instructions from SAS.
SAS can create other graphics formats using the device = option, which are useful with Microsoft Office and other applications such as Open Office or LaTex. Some examples are:
GIF Gif file format
GIF733 GIF - size 733 x 550 pixels
JPEG 256 color jpeg image
A list of available graphics drivers can be produced by running the following program:
<br />
proc gdevice;<br />
run;<br />
