Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bioinformatics at the U.S. FDA’s National Center for toxicological Research, USA
The Division of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics of the U.S FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) seeks three qualified postdoctoral candidates in the field of bioinformatics and/or genomics. The positions are open immediately. These positions require a diverse range of expertise in data mining, machine learning, statistics, biological database manipulation and biology. The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics or computational chemistry. The candidates must demonstrate experience with analysis of data from microarrays, RNA-Seq and/or dealing with in vitro screening assay data using both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. Experience with next generation sequencing technologies will be a huge plus. Knowledge in toxicology and biology, in generally, and hepatotoxicity in particular will be highly beneficial. The starting salary is from $58K depending on the experience.
The positions are applied to the candidates with U.S. citizenship or permanent resident alien status (not H-1 visa holder). The foreign applicants can enroll the program with J1 visa. The applicants with Optional Practical Training (OPT) are encouraged to apply but the conversion to J1 visa needs to take place within a year after joining the program. The H-1 holders willing to convert to J-1 status are also considered.
The FDA Jefferson Laboratories complex is located approximately 30 miles south/southeast of Little Rock, Arkansas. The campus houses NCTR and the Arkansas Regional Laboratory of FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs. The Research Participation Program for FDA is administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of FDA contingent on the availability of funds. The participants will receive a monthly stipend depending on educational level and experience. The participants must show proof of health insurance to start the positions. The appointments are full-time at FDA in Jefferson, Arkansas. Participants do not become employees of FDA or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.
