YSU A commercial software called "Graph Digitizer" can do this job. You can google it. Used it in graduate school. In fact, I googled, and found this, http://digitizer.sourceforge.net/ It should meet your needs, and it is free[s:13]
mushrooman it seems Engauge Digitizer is designed for extracting plot info in a graph into digital number. my problem is more like recognizing number in graph and convert it into digital number.
YSU Never mind then, I didn't read your post carefully, and presumed that you want to strip data from the existing plots in pictures[s:12].
