Traffic, Staff Data Mining Analyst
Job Responsibilities
eBay Traffic is building world-class engineering/analytics teams in Shanghai, focusing on Experiment Platform and services such as search engine marketing efficiency/Email Marketing/Partner network/user behavior/intent analytics. The team’s work will directly impact eBay revenue by improving search engine marketing/partner network/email/feeds efficiency and introducing high quality traffic to eBay.
We are seeking a data mining analyst to provide applied research and data modeling expertise in this area. This is an exciting position, providing the candidate an opportunity to improve world’s largest online market’s search engine marketing efficiency by optimizing bidding model/creative/landing pages/email/partner network/feeds using statistical methodologies, data modeling, machine learning and information retrieval.

• Work with business and analytics partners to support overall eBay Search engine marketing/email/feeds/partner network optimization.
• Conduct and manage applied research and modeling work in the areas of paid search model measurement, email/feeds/partner network efficiency enhancement, query analysis and user behavior/intent analysis.
• Research and experiment with data mining algorithms for query segmentation and dynamic segment expansion.
• Utilize data mining technologies and various data sources like eBay web usage logs, search query terms, human judgment data from crowd sourcing platform, and 3rd party data, to gain insight into Internet user behavior and intent that will set the foundation for eBay search engine marketing.
• Provide complete solutions to business problems using data mining techniques, statistics and data analysis.
• Serve as subject matter expert and drive thought leadership in the areas of identifying search engine marketing improvement needs, measurement and supporting release decisions for new paid search models.
• Mentoring and coaching junior staffs, driving internal operational excellence, and developing career for the team
.
Job Requirements
• MS degree or PhD (preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent is required for this position
• Broad experience with various modeling algorithms, data mining tools, data analysis tools, and statistical packages
• Expertise with applying predictive modeling techniques (model training, logistic regression etc), statistics and information retrieval methods to real-world data
• Superior communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and in a team to research innovative solutions to challenging business problems
• Attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Extensive experience with large data sets and data manipulation.
• Knowledge of SQL , Oracle(or Teredata), R, python is preferred. Working experience or knowledge of search engine, search engine marketing, internet marketing, information retrieval is preferred.
